Iconic Eye Care and Exhibit Treal join to give MAMA her Flowers!

Last Saturday, Iconic Eye Care open it's doors as a fully fleshed out art gallery. A gallery packed with a
variety of beautiful, thought provoking and inspiring art. But these works weren't just by any artists, they ladies the came together for "Artistic Vision" Women's Art Exhibit had the melanin poppin' and more!

Before you could even step inside you were greated by an assortment of colorful pieces of work gracing the sidewalk inviting you in. Next to the door was a table decked out with art bottles of sponsor Coca-Cola. The crowd filled in freely flowing around politicing with each other and picking the brains of the artists who wore tags that notified them to who they were.

The walls and halls filled with the glorious works of artists:

Congratulations of the many sells!!!

There was a spread of delicious entrees that seemed endless. Catered by the illustrious Carmen's Gourmet Kitchen . Dj William Deal Jr kept heads bopping and hips moving to the grooves and he'd effortlessly dig through the crates of vinyl records.

The setting felt as though we were transported to the height of the Halem Renaissance. We were honored to have photographer and The Florida Weekly reporter Andy Spilos come not only cover the exhibit but enjoy it as well.

Video Recap

And yet this slice of heaven was with purpose! Everyone had not just come together to party, take selfies and drink. We had all gathered here to present MAMA with her Mother's Day Flowers.

The goal was to give back, give back and appreciation for all the work Mothers Against Murderers Association had been doing since it's formation January 2003. And it was with the biggiest of glee that Adam Ramseycould announce that we raised a wonderful about.

Leading the charge of great perfomances was our host,Treal Talk's  Jessica EmpressPrestige McCready inspiring every one to "Go get it!" and that even when you have nothing at all you can still have the most. Next was a performance by Raa the Virtuoso.. who was only asked to performed last minute 5 hours prior. To which he wrote a work in progress that by the end had everyone singng along to the infectious hook. Taking it home was none other that legandary slam poet Terese Hill aka Chunky you changed your perspective while reminding you to SAY IT LOUD! I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD!

It was a fantastic evening, and we appreciate every single on of you for coming.

'Black Lily' Transforms Wine Scene into Ground Zero for the Uprising with Art, Music & More during Sunfest Weekend!

Last night was the beginning of an uprising. Inspired by what The Root's QuestLove started in his living room, providing opportunities for performers to express themselves, Chris "Da' Imperial" Deon put together an event that is certain to send waves into the culture of Palm Beach. A night of which he dedicated to the passing of his Aunt; it was jammed pack with undeniable talents and homage to the legends that have left us. Including a set dedicated to the late great Prince that was sure to even have the Heavens shaking from the grooves.

An assortment of performers from Trinidad, Atlanta, Miami and West Palm rocked the stage, serving a feast of the most blazing Spoken Word, R&B, Dance and Hip Hop that rivaled those on of Sunfest!

"There is an Erykah Badu here" a confident Da' Imperial stated as he continue to let the crowd know he is determine to find the next great talents "This time next year there will be a Black Lily Festival!"

Origin.
What is Black Lily?
Black Lily was a legendary open mic collective in late 1990's Philadelphia that was started by
Grammy award winners Questlove and his bandmates: The Roots. The open mic night started out of necessity to find like minded talent to fill a void that was missing on mainstream radio and in music at that time. Black Lily grew to legendary status and spawned the careers of not only The Roots, but many other multi-platinum acts of the more cerebral neo soul/r&b/hip hop era of the early 2000's including Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Musiq Soulchild, the late J Dilla and many more who have influenced what we listen to today.

Rebirth.
What is BLACK LILY UPRISING?
Answer: A FREE radical art and culture movement. Open to the public.
Simply put, it’s the inspired continuation of that legendary movement started by The Roots and now based in West Palm Beach and focusing on cultivating South Florida's gifted music and art scene. Black Lily Uprising makes it's debut during the internationally famous SUNFEST festival week at one of the Palm Beaches hottest art spots: WINE SCENE, which can best be described as part gallery, part ultra lounge, part New York style warehouse with a spacious, eclectic open air amphitheater.
